He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, George Ovel and Emma Moorman Ovel; his wife Judy Thein; his children, Don C. Ovel (Kae) of Waterloo, Tim Ovel (Brandi) of Waterloo, Rob Ovel (Tanya) of Clive and Erika Kramer (Scott) of Cedar Falls; and his siblings, Ellie Jones of Cedar Falls, Gladys Frye of Grapevine, Vernette Cowles (Dey) of Sheybogan, Ron Ovel, Charlotte Backes and Corinne Ovel. He was also cherished by ten grandchildren.
