He was predeceased by: his parents, Iner Petersen and Virginia Petersen; his former wife Juanita Brockway; his daughter Linda Galbraith (Michael); and his siblings, Dolly Larsen (Nels), Lois Hahn (Carlan) and Robert Petersen (Lois).
He is survived by: his wife Norma of Cedar Falls; his brother Jim Petersen (Mary) of Reinbeck; his children, Bryan Petersen (Laura) of Traverse City, Michigan and Kathy Folkers (Doug) of Cedar Falls; his son-in-law Michael Galbraith of Waterloo; his grandchildren, Adam Galbraith (Stephanie) of Hudson, Justin Galbraith (Melissa) of Burlington, Brenna Wilson (Neil) of Waterloo and Gina Hernandez (Kevin) of Cedar Falls; and his stepchildren, Kim Beskoon (Garyl) of Nixa, Missouri, Kelly Hall of Urbandale and Keith Hall (Dana) of Pella. He is also survived by eight step grandchildren and six great step grandchildren.
