He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Brown and Anna Brown (Hochstetler); his wife Joan; his sisters, Mary Wildin and Lela Brown; and his siblings-in-law, Ruth Beaman and Jay Wildin.

He is survived by: his children, Brian Brown (Dena) of Earlham and Teresa Brown of Winterset; his grandchildren, Claire Kersey (Austyn), Elizabeth Brown (Mike Blake) and Cassandra Brown (Cody Peek); his great grandchildren, Zeus, Anthony and Paisley; and his brother-in-law Russell Beaman of Adel.
