He was predeceased by: his parents, Morris Benson and Gladys Benson (Lindquist); his wife Paula Benson; and his siblings, Rocky Jo Benson, Georgia Lee Smithling and Bonnie Lou Benson.
He is survived by: his children, David Benson II of Waterloo and Shawn Staebell of Waterloo; and his grandchildren, Brenden Sapp, Cody Staebell and Korey Benson.
