She was predeceased by: her parents, Adolph Hippen and LaVae V. Hippen (Staley); her brothers, Michael Hippen, Ronnie Dinzy and Timothy Hippen; and her former husband Dennis Gates.
She is survived by: her sons, Kevin Gates of Waterloo and Curtis Gates of Waterloo; and her siblings, Charlene Surly (Marvin) of Waterloo, Carlene Hippen of Waterloo, Teresa Siebrands (Rodney) of Waterloo, Peggy Clowser of Gillette, WY and Paul Hippen (Crescent) of Mason City. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Hagerman Baptist Church (1105 Knoll Ave, Waterloo, IA 50702). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
