He was predeceased by: his parents, Oral Slater and Ruby Slater (Duckett); and his siblings, Ralph, Lois, Lyle, Ray, Roy and Dolly.
He is survived by: his children, Kelli Lenz (Bob) of Waverly, Todd Slater (Laurie) of Palo, Troy Slater (Mandy Westendorf) of Denver and Ryan Slater (Kirstien) of LaPorte; his wife Jollene Merle Thompson; his grandchildren, Jennifer Poole (Tom), Whitney Lenz (Adam), Lindsey Buckman (Chris), Austin Slater, Treyton Slater (Bri), Jackson Slater, Nolan Slater, Kellen Westendorf, Kellen Slater, Summer Slater, Arlo Slater and Layla Slater; his great grandchildren, Sophie and Eric Poole; his siblings-in-law, Kathy Dettmer, Mary Koehler (Steve), David Thompson (Pat) and Kevin Thompson; and his niece Christine Windsor. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 3rd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Heartland Community Church (705 Bishop Ave, La Porte City, IA 50651). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 3rd 2025 at the same location.
Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
