With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Arthur Thomas McGovern (Waterloo, Iowa), born in Whittemore, Iowa, who passed away on April 24, 2022 at the age of 82. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph McGovern and Verona McGovern (Weisbrod); his grandson Connor McGovern; and his sisters, Kathy Luckritz and Jane McGovern.

He is survived by: his wife Barbara of Cedar Falls; his sons, Jason McGovern (Amy Lynn) of Bloomington and Nicholas McGovern McGovern (Amy Jo) of Waterloo; his grandchildren, Zane, Luke McGovern, Brett and Brady McGovern; his siblings, Mike McGovern of Fort Pierce, Father Mark McGovern of Cedar Rapids, James (Kathleen) of Minneapolis, Terry McGovern (Janet) of Charles City, Jon McGovern of Evansville, Indiana, Joan Britton (Dick) of Portland, Merry Whittaker (Dick) of New Germany, Ruth McHeyser (Marco) of Boulder and Colleen McGovern (Frank) of Denver; and also Art. He is also survived by 50 nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, help us carry on Art's legacy by donating to organizations for Autism research.
