He was predeceased by: his parents, John Hobart and Helen Louise Wahl Spears. He is survived by: his son Alex Spears (Kelley); his siblings, Tim Spears, Susan Scheer (Bob), Janet Brewer (Mark) of Tucson, AZ, Joanne Swanson (Kevin) of Atlanta, GA and Derek Brewer; and also, Janie Spears, Talon, Noah, Dante, Fiona and Elijah. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
