He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Lyons and Lillian Clare Lyons (Devane); his stepdaughter Sheila Boese; and his sister Lillian Davis. He is survived by: his wife Mary Gail Lyons (Dankof) of Washington, Iowa; his son Joseph Lyons of Madrid, Spain; his stepdaughter Brenda Boese of Iowa City, Iowa; his granddaughter Addison VanDePol (Trevor Squires) of Clovis; his siblings, Mary Frances Lyons (James Roy), Rosalind Lyons, Martin Lyons (Mariska Polii), Regina Lyons (Theo Eicher), Daniel Lyons (Monica), Jarlath Lyons (Roxanne Hood) and Jerome Lyons (Soe Tin Tun); and his brother-in-law Robert Davis. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; and countless friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Jones - Eden Funeral Home (116 E Main St, Washington, IA 52353). A memorial service was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Immanuel Lutheran Church (1226 E Washington St, Washington, IA 52353).
A general memorial has been established to benefit Washington County youth.
