He was predeceased by: his parents, Clark Bauer and Dorothy Bauer (Rinner); his daughter Sherry Bauer; his stepson Mike Liebe; and his stepgranddaughter Alexis Marie Liebe.
He is survived by: his wife Connie A. Bauer of Washington, IA; his daughter Sheryl Shewman (Dan) of Centennial, CO; his stepchildren, Jeff Liebe (Sandra) of Paris, IL, Cherie Murphy of Riverside, IA, Steve Liebe (Barb) of Washington, IA, Randy Liebe (Jacque) of Fairfield, IA, Shelley Sides (Derrick) of Muscatine, IA and Patti Roth of Riverside, IA; his stepgrandchildren, Taylor Liebe, Stephanie Liebhart (Rob), Alicia Greiner (Justin), Amanda Owusu-Akyaw (Victor), Erin Liebe, Grant Liebe (Mayra), Demi Hendricks (JR), Ian Sides, Nathan Sides and Justin Roth; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, James Greiner, Charley Greiner, Olivia Owusu-Akyaw, Joseph Owusu-Akyaw, Nicholas Liebe and Jade Hendricks.
