She was predeceased by: her parents, Pearly August and Esther Marie Nitz (Frost). She is survived by: her spouse Loring D. Michaelis; her sons, Barry Michaelis (Robin) of Kalona, Peter Michaelis of Schaumburg, IL and Joel Michaelis of Kalona; her grandchildren, Natalie, Adam and Katie; her great grandchildren, Eden, Gunner, Garret, Emberlin, Lily, Jace and Hunter; and her siblings, Donna of Wisconsin, Bonnie of California and Gale of Florida.

A memorial fund has been established for the Kalona Public Library.
