He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Lesley and Charlotte (Green); and his son David. He is survived by: his wife F. Jean Miller of Washington, Iowa; his children, Stephanie Whitaker (Richard) of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Derek and Stacey Bryant (Kurt) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; his grandchildren, Greg Whitaker (Jill), Ryan Whitaker, Curtis Cousins, Justin Cousins, Kara Cousins, Barbara Kopp, Kylie Bryant and Sam Bryant; and his great grandchildren, Jessica Kopp, A. J. Kopp and Holden Whitaker. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A memorial has been established at the Washington High School for a girl's collegiate track scholarship.
