He was predeceased by: his mother Patricia Sherman; and his aunt Barbara House. He is survived by: his father Darwin Sherman of Washington, Iowa; his sisters, Traci Koeppel (Jeff) of North Liberty, Iowa and Darci Witthoft (Joel) of Washington, Iowa; his nephews, Nick and Wilx Witthoft; his niece Ruby Witthoft; his uncle Jim Sherman (Jill) of Peoria, Illinois; and his friend Otis.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Paws and More Animal Shelter.
