He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Clarence and Violet Collett (Engel); his wife Joan Collett; his siblings, Arthur Collett, Clarence "Buck" Collett, Bea Behrend, Eva Mithcell, Lucille Orr, Martha Johnston, Mildred Whalen, Hazel Warnken, Mary Fish and Lena Beatrice Collett; and his aunt Clyla Knottnerus.
He is survived by: his former wife Betty Joan Carey; his children, John Wayne Collett (Beverly) of Grandview, Iowa, Peggy Grim (John) of Johnston, Iowa, Karen Redlinger (Joe) of Washington, Iowa, Christine Barker (Ron) of Wappapello, Missouri and Laura Walsh (Tony) of Washington, Iowa; and his sister Marilyn Weatherman of Washington, Iowa.. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren.
