With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James A. Schmidt of Washington, Iowa, born in Omaha, Nebraska, who passed away on August 5, 2020 at the age of 95. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his father Ralph Melham; his adoptive father Rudolph Schmidt; his former wife Geraldine J. Griebel; his wife Gerry; his children, Kate Rubin (Gordon Ginsberg) of Plymouth, MN and Kirk Schmidt (Cheryl) of Decatur, IL; his grandchildren, Tyler Schmidt (Misty) of Milwaukee, WI, Matthew Schmidt (Corey Bradley) and Niscah Moller (Ronnie) of Grandview, TX; his great grandchild Mackenzie Rasar (Noah Justi); his great great grandchild Logan James Justi; his sister-in-law Opal Griebel Collins; his mother Rose Schmidt (Moon); and his stepfather Rudolph Schmidt. He was also cherished by great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to United Methodist Church (UMC) Pastor's Fund, to aide families in need; the UP Home; or Hospice of Washington County.
