She was predeceased by: her parents, Benedict K. Griebel and Emily M. Griebel (Cadek); her husband James A. Schmidt (Jim); and her brother Leo Griebel. She is survived by: her children, Kate Rubin (Gordon Ginsberg) of Plymouth, MN and Kirk Schmidt (Cheryl) of Decatur, IL; her grandchildren, Tyler Schmidt (Misty) of Milwaukee, WI, Matthew Schmidt of Los Angeles, CA and Niscah Moller (Ronnie) of Grandview, TX; her great grandchild Mackenzie Rasar (Noah Justi) of Peoria, IL; her great great grandchild Logan James Justi; and her sister-in-law Opal Griebel Collins of Broken Bow, NE. She is also survived by great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Washington UMC Pastor's Fund, to aide families in need; the UP Home; or the Washington, Iowa Betterment Foundation for flowers in local parks.
