We are sad to announce that on January 24, 2025, at the age of 97, Emory Van Gerpen of Washington, Iowa passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, John J. VanGerpen and Rosa F. VanGerpen (Bruns). He is survived by: his children, Ruth Ann Wolf (Dave) of St. Louis, MO, David VanGerpen of Washington, IA, Miriam VanGerpen (Alan Shapiro) of Camus, WA, Seth VanGerpen (Karen Hadley) of Dallas, TX and Rachel Goedken (Jack Beard) of Lincoln, NE; his grandchildren, Esther Murphy (Brad), Kathryn Accurso (Matthia), Kristen Hoffer, Erica Hillis (Dan), John Wolf (Sarah), Ben Goedken and Sarah Goedken; his great grandchildren, Israel Hoffer, Solomon Hoffer, Ellie Wolf, James Murphy, Zola Accurso, Rhys Wolf, Samantha Hillis, Felix Accurso, Daniel Hillis and Nico Accurso; and his siblings, Myrna, Arthur, Irvin, Merle, Edythe, John and Royce.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 30th 2025 at 3:00 PM and from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Friday, January 31st 2025 at 10:30 AM at the United Presbyterian Church (209 E Main St, Washington, IA 52353). A burial was held on Friday, January 31st 2025 at the Elm Grove Cemetery (1101 S Ave E, Washington, IA 52353).
