He was predeceased by: his parents, Adrian Stephens and Betty Stephens (Johnson); and his brother Russ Stephens. He is survived by: his former wife Deanna Cox; his son Greg Stephens (Robin) of Letts; his grandchildren, Emily Stephens, Skyler Stephens, Megan Lamb and Maddy Miller; his great grandchildren, Harper Lamb, Cooper Lamb, Cheyenne Hoeft, Izzy Hoeft and Nova Miller; and his siblings, Pam Fountain (Chuck) of Des Moines, Paul Stephens (Beth) of Wapello, Tim Stephens of Wapello, Gary Stephens (Sue) of Grandview, Randy Stephens of Burlington and Bill Stephens (Marci) of Muscatine. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A memorial has been established at the funeral home in Robert's name.
