He was predeceased by: his parents, Burr Hawkins and Laura Hawkins (Strawhacker); his daughter Tina Hawkins; and his siblings, Bertha Harvey and Gene Hawkins.
He is survived by: his wife Darlene Russell; his children, Terri Hull of Wapello, Patsy Hawkins of Wapello and Dean Hawkins, Jr. of Kingston; his grandsons, Hunter and Zach; his great grandchild Keegan; and his siblings, Florence Kokus of Illinois, Mary Ann Manning of Mount Pleasant and Lester Hawkins of Wapello. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial has been established for the family in Dean's name.
