He is survived by: his wife Lois Albrecht of Wall Lake, IA; his children, Perry Grote (Karen) of Wall Lake, IA, Michelle Wyrick (Mark) of Boone, IA and Christopher Grote (Jodi) of Wall Lake, IA; his grandchildren, Brayton Grote (Kirstin) of Ankeny, IA, Josie, Jada Wyrick of Boone, IA, Connor and Olivia Grote of Wall Lake, IA; his great grandchild Beau Grote; his siblings, Arnold Grote (Marilyn) of Wall Lake, IA, Michael Grote of Wall Lake, IA, Walter Grote (Kathy) of Wall Lake, IA and Luella Wilwerding (Bob) of Defiance, IA; his siblings-in-law, Jim Meister of Lake View, IA and Sharon Grote of Carroll, IA; and his pet Hawkeye. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In 2012, Leo was diagnosed with Alzheimer disease and through the last five years of his battle he found comfort in his four-legged companion Hawkeye.
