He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Brus and Martha Brus (Wilcken); his spouse Arnola C. Koeppe; and his brother Vernon Brus. He is survived by: his children, Dennis Brus of Walcott, David Brus of Davenport, Debbie Brus of Walcott and Denise Westendorf (Lee) of Eldridge; his grandchildren, Sydney and Brody Westendorf; and his brother Melvin Brus (Betty) of Walcott. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
