She was predeceased by: her husband William "Billy" Hamann; and her siblings, Luetta Arp, Eleanor Rathjen and Arnold Grill. She is survived by: her children, Laura Grill (Denklau), Linda Stender of Apex, Gary Hamann (Ruth) of Walcott and Don Hamann (Donna) of Davenport, Iowa; her grandchildren, Kara Weems, Kelly Vanstory, Brett Hamann and Brooke Moeller; and her great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Avery Weems.

Memorials may be given to the Walcott Fire Department in Alta's memory.
