He was predeceased by: his parents, Willard Merchant and Mildred Merchant; his birth parents, Carl and Elsie Merchant; and his siblings, Cheryl Merchant (Sutton), Donnie and Dale Merchant.
He is survived by: his siblings, Derald Merchant, Joan Wright (Harold), Karen Satterlee (Bill) and Amber Jacobson (John). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to the Vinton Lutheran Home (1301 Second Avenue).
