He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Hess and Gladys Hess; and his wife Phyllis A. Schultz. He is survived by: his children, L. Ronald Hess (Beverly) of Cedar Rapids, Teddi Newton (William) of Vinton and Bradley Hess (Kay) of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Dawnette Richards (Brett) of Vinton, Douglas Hess (Tyera) of Cedar Rapids, Chad Newton (Kim) of Vinton, Laurie Ortner (Michael) of Shellsburg, Jessica Hess of Cedar Rapids and Elliot Hess of Cedar Rapids; his great grandchildren, Lucas Richards (Stephanie), Tawny Hess, Annabelle Newton, Sophia Newton, Brock, Brady and Brant Ortner; his great great grandchild Aiden Richards; and his sister-in-law Louise Schultz. He is also survived by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild.
Masks should be worn and social distancing will be practiced at the church.
