He was predeceased by: his parents, Clark Geater and Pearl Blocher Geater; his parents-in-law, Gerald and Geraldine Shaffer; his sister Helen; and his sister-in-law Becky.
He is survived by: his wife Carol Jean Shaffer; his children, Bryon Geater (Kelly) of Vinton, Julie Manatrey (Jeff) of Indianola, Lori Heins (Ryan) of Urbana and Andrea Evans (Dave) of Vinton; his grandchildren, Kelsey McClure (Dustin), Nathan Geater (Beth), Jessie Manatrey, Jenna Manatrey-Lancaster, Taylor Rommann, Morgan Raue (Cody), Trevor Rommann, Kaitlyn Heins, Sonnie Evans, Kail Evans, Ellie Heins and Dakotah Heins; his great grandchildren, Bryson, Carter, Maryn, Kason, Gavynn, Brekynn and Joshua; his brother Glenn Geater (Sue); and his brother-in-law Jim Shaffer (Lynn Vaughan). He is also survived by nieces, nephews and many cousins.
