He was predeceased by: his parents, Everitt Mayhew and Leona Mayhew (Mussman); his sister-in-law Shirley Mayhew; and his nephew John Mayhew. He is survived by: his wife Joann Strong; his children, Teri Karlzen of Vinton, Steve Cronk (Peg) of Vinton and Shawna Parks (Todd) of Independence, MO; his grandchildren, Justin, Travis, Erica, Nicole, Charley, Seth, Bryce and Victoria; his siblings, Elaine Brown (Roger) of Bettendorf and Marlyn Mayhew of Vinton; and his caregiver Barb Ender-Wright. He is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 15th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church (1002 E 13th St, Vinton, IA 52349). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, April 15th 2025 at 11:45 AM at the Evergreen Cemetery (1002 E 13th St, Vinton, IA 52349). A reception was held on Tuesday, April 15th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Trinity Lutheran Church (1002 E 13th St, Vinton, IA 52349).
