He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis A. McElroy and Rose Kiefer McElroy; his wife Mildred B. Meader; and his siblings, Robert, William, Bernice, Bernadine and Mary.
He is survived by: his children, Russell McElroy (Marcia), Melvin McElroy (Christina), Susan Anderson (Donivan) and Beth Ann Weigand (Thomas); his grandchildren, Ian, Megan, Annalisa, Andrew, Alexandra and Cameron; and his sister-in-law Lana McElroy. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
