It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Carolyn Gavalas (Vinton, Iowa), who passed away on February 11, 2019, at the age of 70, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank B. Carmen and Mary Jean Hurlbut Carmen; and her brother-in-law Conn Gavalas. She is survived by: her great-nephews, Ian, Hudson and Roman; her daughter Stephanie Gavalas (Ryan Justice); her pets, Tuna and Sammie of Vinton; her sister-in-law Kitty Gavalas of Saginaw, MI; her grandchildren, Allison, Emily, Mark Goodell (Becky) of Blue Springs, MO, Matt Goodell (Monica) of Vinton, Sierra, Kaitlyn, Lexi, Maci, Jolene McGarity (Turner) of San Antonio, TX, Anika, Mac, Drew Sallee (Lindsy) of Vinton, Ian, Hudson and Roman; her close friend John McElroy of Topeka, KS.; and also Nikki Hartwick (Jeff) of Saginaw, MI. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews.
