He is survived by: his children, Elaine Carlson (Kerry) of Red Oak, IA and Terry Bruning (Jeannie) of Red Oak, IA; his grandson William Bruning (Brittany) of Clarinda, IA; his children, Brandon Bruning (Nicole) of Villisca, IA, Thad Bruning (Bailey) of Council Bluffs, IA, Alec Carlson (Grace) of Long Island, NY, Brittany Prokupek (Josh) of Pella, IA and Kaylin Carlson of Red Oak, IA; his great grandchildren, Oliver, Myah, Kaylee, Raelyn, Everett and Corinne; his siblings, Jim Bruning (Deanna) of Washington, D. C., Larry Bruning (Linda) of Austin, TX, Duane Bruning (Minnie) of Englewood, CO, Janey Armbrust (Jerry) of Millard, NE and Nancy Jantze (Butch) of Milford, NE; and his brothers-in-law, Doyle Kneisel (Sandy) of Griswold, IA and Don Hargis of Omaha, NE. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, December 10th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel, Inc. (1995 G Ave, Red Oak, IA 51566). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, December 11th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
