John Hughes Obituary

In loving memory of John Hughes (Villisca, Iowa), born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, who departed this world on February 21, 2025 at the age of 71. John leaves behind a legacy remembered by family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, John Hughes and Phyllis Hughes (Maca); his siblings, Matthew Hughes, Debbie Edwards, Paula Sanders and Geralyn Kester; and his niece Maylissa Kester.

He is survived by: his wife Debbie; his daughters, Angela Giancola (Dave) and Patricia Higgins (Chris); his grandchildren, Gianna, Layla, Dominic Giancola, Hannah, Alivia, Samuel and Jessa Higgins; and his siblings, Linda Reed (Wayne), Nancy Ehlers (Jim), Monica Steffen (Garry), Chris Hughes (Cindy), Bruce Hughes (Peggy) and Bartholomew Hughes. He is also survived by many other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Billings Funeral Chapel (201 E 4th St, Villisca, IA 50864). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, February 28th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St Joseph Catholic Church (131 W High St, Villisca, IA 50864).
