He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Allen Coats and Lillian Rose Coats (Buhr); his nephew Derek Maas; and his stepbrother Jim Everett. He is survived by: his siblings, Patricia Hinrichs (Duane) of Brooklyn, IA, Debra Maas (Stewart) of Marengo, IA, Lanette Van Nevel (Scott) of Terrebonne, OR and Dave Coats (Tara) of Victor; his stepmother Bernice Coats; and his stepsiblings, LuAnn Bohan and Jerry Everett. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
