She was predeceased by: her parents, Anton Hessenius and Mathilda Saloma Hessenius (Lauterwasser); her husband William Jahlas; her sons, Dwayne Jahlas and Edwin Jahlas; and her sisters, Lucille Hartman, Rosella Fruendt, Lois Struck and Dorothy Runyon.
She is survived by: her son John (Karen) of Cedar Rapids, IA; her family, Deep River, Ruth and Bill; her daughter Patricia Van Waus (Walter) of Worthington, MN; her daughter-in-law Connie Jahlas of Deep River, IA; her nephew Dr. Rodney Wachter (Deb) of Adams, TN; her grandchildren, Melissa Hasert, Amy Rieks, Melinda Van Waus, Molly Schultz, Sara Bryan, Allison Jahlas and Joshua Jahlas; her sisters, Carol Wachter and Joan Lindberg; and her sister-in-law Esther Sandersfeld.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to St. John's Lutheran Church or to Essence of Life Hospice, mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 485, Victor, IA 52347.
