She was predeceased by : her parents, Anton Hessenius and Mathilda Saloma Hessenius (Lauterwasser); her husband William Jahlas; her sons, Dwayne Jahlas and Edwin Jahlas; and her sisters, Lucille Hartman, Rosella Fruendt, Lois Struck and Dorothy Runyon.

She is survived by : her son John (Karen) of Cedar Rapids, IA; her family, Deep River, Ruth and Bill; her daughter Patricia Van Waus (Walter) of Worthington, MN; her daughter-in-law Connie Jahlas of Deep River, IA; her nephew Dr. Rodney Wachter (Deb) of Adams, TN; her grandchildren, Melissa Hasert, Amy Rieks, Melinda Van Waus, Molly Schultz, Sara Bryan, Allison Jahlas and Joshua Jahlas; her sisters, Carol Wachter and Joan Lindberg; and her sister-in-law Esther Sandersfeld.
