He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Dr. John "Jack" E. and Ruth Burkett (Short); his wife Mary; his children, Mindy Jarrett (Booker) of Des Moines and Dr. Sam Burkett (Meredith) of Evans, GA; and his grandchildren, Jackson, Brooke, Gabriella and Juliana.
