We are sad to announce that on November 15, 2021, at the age of 90, Mary McManus of Urbandale, Iowa passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was loved and cherished by many people including: her children, Dennis McManus (Donna), Julie McManus (Tim Schupp), Lore McManus Solo (Jim), Patrick McManus (Nancy), Maureen McManus Porth (Tom) and Stephen McManus (Lisa); her grandchildren, Megan Gonzalez (Dan), Caitlin McManus, Keeley McManus, Ryan Newhouse, Matt Newhouse, Patrick Reilly (Kristina), Emily Solo Tell (Adam), Amanda Young, Nick Young (Jamie), PJ McManus, Madi Porth, Robbie Porth, Eileen McManus and Mike McManus; her great grandchildren, Cohen Moore, Audrey Reilly, Nolan Reilly, Emileah Velasco, Eden Young and Leo Young; her parents-in-law, Margaret Langan of Caldwell, ID, Julie Tefft (Scott) of Georgetown, TX, John E. Gouger of Liguori, MO and Mike Gouger (Linda) of Omaha, NE; her sisters-in-law, Margaret Gouger of Lees Summit, MO and Shirley Gouger of Omaha, NE.; her husband Walter; her siblings, Tom, Bill and Joanne; and her brother-in-law Gerry Langan.

In her honor, memorials may be made to Rock In Prevention, Basilica of St. John, St. Pius X Church, or Iowans for LIFE, all in Des Moines.

“Sad to read of Mary's death. She and Walt were so significant in life at St. Pius and the DSM Catholic community. That was my first assignment and they (and the parish) helped getting me started out right. Mary was supportive and challenging in a gentle, humorous way. We kept in touch, off and on, recently at the DM Metro Opera in Indianola, first she and Walt, then later Mary and a young music student - a family member I think. I will offer a Mass for her and the all of you. Fr. Al Sherbo”
