She was predeceased by: her sister Virginia Gilson of Marshalltown, IA. She is survived by: her children, Becky Kerr (Steve) of Chandler, AZ, Mary Nygaard (Brian) of Atlanta, GA and Michael Sievers (Sara) of Urbandale, IA. She is also survived by five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren.

Urbandale – Mary Joan Sievers (Joan) passed from this earth on June 18, 2018 at Glen Oaks Alzheimer's Special Care Center due to complications from dementia.
