He was predeceased by: his parents, Theara Irmal Castillo (Miller) and John Randall Castillo; his wife Arlene Marie Smith (Gonseth); and his brothers, Russell Castillo and Dennis Castillo.
He is survived by: his former spouse Pat Otto; his children, Debi Erickson (Jeff) of Waukee, Pam Rosa (Travis) of Clive, Jeff Castillo (Sharon) of St. Louis and Gregory Castillo (Tammy) of Iowa City; his sister Janice Hubatka (Wilfred) of Nevinville; and his grandchildren, Ted Castillo (Maia Schneider), Michael Castillo, Julianna Castillo, Noah Erickson, Casey Blackman (Hope), Cody Rosa (Dalton) and Cole Rosa.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are to the Shriners Hospital.
