She was predeceased by: her parents, Herman Ewald and Hannah Ewald (Seeger); her husband Thomas Svien; her siblings, Mildred Mellem (Clarence), Marjorie Churchill (Raymond) and Garold Ewald (Mae Barker); and her niece Linda Ewald McCleland.
She is survived by: her children, Mary Svien of Missoula, MT, Cathy Waugh (Paul) of Jacksonville, FL, Timothy Svien and Michael Svien of Urbandale; and her grandson Max Waugh of Columbus, OH. She is also survived by three nieces and three nephews.
