He was predeceased by: his parents, Emil Pieper and Pauline Pieper (Rodenborn); his siblings, Joseph, John, Daniel Pieper, Paula McDermott, Joan Christensen and Jean Arroyo; and his son Richard Pieper.
He is survived by: his former wife Mary Catherine Baker of Ogden, Iowa.; his children, Tom and Mary; his wife Mary Pieper of Union; his children, Anthony Pieper (Amy) of Beaman, Christine Wilder (Arthur) of Muscatine, Curt Pieper (Tracy) of Muscatine, Deborah Sams (Charles) of Whitten, Jean Voshell (Shawn) of Des Moines and Timothy Pieper of Union; his siblings, Timothy Pieper and Judith Lunn; and his daughter-in-law Tasha Pieper Ward (Richard) of Conrad. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
