He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick Koehler and Icel Koehler (Boyer); his sister Marilyn Caylor; and his brothers-in-law, Richard Caylor and Roger Maurer.

He is survived by: his grandchildren, Erik (Claudia), Tyler Brinegar (Katrina), Lindsey, Joshua, Joel Koehler, Matt, Connor, Kaelyn Thierolf, Jason (Alana), Andrew and Stephanie Chau; his great grandchildren, Callum, Rowan Brinegar, Aubrey, Chloe Chau, Tyler and Katrina; his wife Marilyn; his children, Darrell Koehler (Cindy), Duane Koehler (Deanna) and Deanna Thierolf (Grant); his sister Donna Maurer; and also Norman Chau (Gail).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Heifer Project International or Christian Aid Ministries.
