He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Schoening and Mabel Schoening (Scheel); his wife Norma Lea Heiman; his stepmother Doris Schoening; and his brother Dale Schoening.
He is survived by: his children, Cindy Rinderer (Jeff) of Salina, KS, Nancy Lipes (Jim) of Glenwood, IA, David Schoening (Linda) of Glenwood, IA, LaDonna Coover (Jon) of Council Bluffs, IA and Gregg Schoening (Chris Androy) of Glenwood, IA; his grandchildren, Grant Coover, Julia Schoening, Matt Coover, Derrick Schoening, Melissa Booker, Tyler Schoening, Aaron Schoening, Michelle Zanders, Alyson Bree and Micole Gnatzig; and his siblings, Edwin Schoening (Carol) of Phoenix, AZ, LeRoy Schoening (Donna) of Mineola, Lorna Hiley of Salado, TX, Carol Tibben (Roger) of Glenwood and Norma Marr. He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren.
The family suggests those that attend to wear masks and social distance.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials to St John Lutheran Church in Mineola, Oak Township Fire and Rescue or Silver City Rescue.
