He is survived by: his children, Scott Smentek (Terrie) of Traer, IA, Susan Smentek (Keith Baumann) of Elmhurst, IL, Sharon Scherrer (Keith) of Traer, IA, Julie Calcagno (Jim) of Chicago, IL and Jennifer Smentek of Traer, IA; his grandchildren, Laurel, Lena, Nolan Baumann, Emma, Adel Scherrer, Gianna, Gianluca Calcagno, Lukasz and Lilka Jampoler; and his siblings, Geraldine Haddon (late Tim), Gregory Smentek (Patricia) and Nancy Quaiver (Charley). He is also survived by ten nieces and nephews.
