He was predeceased by: his parents, Emil Bartling and Lillie Bartling (Ballhorn); his wife Mary; his son-in-law Dick Wolf; and his siblings, Richard, La Vern, Ronald, Merle, Lorene Yanda and LaDean Watters.
He is survived by: his stepchildren, Noel Duffy (Paul) of Tama, Michael McFate (Suzanne) of Reinbeck and Kenne Wolf of Tama; and his siblings, LaRue Atchison, Shirley Schultz, Arlene Starits, Darlene Ervin and Larry Bartling. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and many great-great grandchildren.
