He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Willis and Lucille Simpson Sr. (Ladely); his former wife Louise Goodwin; and his children, Jeremy J., Shelley Garlick and Kurtis Prescott.

He is survived by: his wife Eve Prescott of Toledo; his children, Eugene "Bud" Simpson (Michele) of Altoona and Tina Robinson (Pat) of Mitchellville; his grandchildren, Hailey Simpson, Cody Simpson, Melanie Simpson, Lauren Simpson and Tyler Simpson; his children, Jack Prescott (Melody), Bob Prescott (Kathy), Mike Farrier (Joan) and Leigh Fox (Bobby); his siblings, Junior Simpson (Mary) of Hartwick, Jim Simpson (Kay) of Victor, Bobby Simpson of Marshalltown, Rick Simpson (Joni) of Toledo and Alicia Smith (Ron) of Glenville, MN; and his sister-in-law Linda Albers (John). He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Toledo Fire Department.
