He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Skala and Genevieve Skala (Zmolek); his former wife Mardis Schultz Norton; his stepson Gary Norton; his grandchildren, Taylor Skala, Hannah Maass and Justin Maass; and his sisters, Mary Jo Baker (Jim) and Nancy Cunningham (Gordon).
He is survived by: his wife Marlene Eernisse of Toledo; his children, Stacy Skala (Jan) of Toledo, Nancy Drury (Mark) of Le Grand, Jason Skala of Toledo, Mardis', Cindy See of Marshalltown and Roger Norton (Julie) of Lincoln, NE; his stepdaughters, Brenda Maass (Lynn) of Corona, SD, Sandra Eernisse of Toledo and Marcia Hoskey (Martin) of Toledo; and his brothers, Patric Skala (Katherine) of Antioch, IL and Mike Skala (Jackie) of Tama. He is also survived by twenty grandchildren; many great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be directed to Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown or St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Tama.
