He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl McFate and Mayme McFate (Dixon); his wife Le Ora; his daughter Judy Carnes; and his siblings, LaVerne McFate, Wayne McFate, Robert McFate and Helen Miler.
He is survived by: his daughter Darlene McFate of Urbandale; his son-in-law Allen Carnes of Beaman; his grandchildren, Eric Carnes, Austin Carnes (Liz) and Chelsea McRill (Jared); and his great grandchildren, Barrett, Sterling Carnes, Ian and Emily McRill. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial fund will be established.
