He was predeceased by: his parents, Bonno Schutter and Ellien Schutter (Tjaden); and his siblings, Ardith Buffington and Herman Schutter (Harriett). He is survived by: his wife Marie Schutter of Titonka; his son Ricky Schutter (Debra) of Algona; his grandchildren, Amanda Schutter, Jason Schutter and Emily Draheim (Cameron); his child Dwane Schutter (Dawn) of Titonka; his grandchildren, Kristen Schutter (Johnathan Hinz), Tiffani Schutter and Jacob Schutter; his daughter Denise Ricklefs (Michael) of Webster City; his grandchildren, Kaitlin Ricklefs and Kassandra Ricklefs; his son Scott Schutter (Teresa) of Fort Walton Beach, FL; his grandchildren, Steven Schutter (Beatrice), Adam Schutter and Sylvia Schutter; his daughter Cindy Stanberg (Andy) of Thor; his grandsons, Samuel Stanberg and Zachary Stanberg; his sister Florence Bunker; and his brother-in-law David Buffington. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
