He was predeceased by: his parents, Anthony Thomas Bena and Elizabeth Makousky Bena; and his sister Mary Ann Syroid. He is survived by: his wife Virginia Bena of Guttenberg, Iowa; his children, Susan Swartzendruber (Reggie) of West Amana, Sally Elliot (Tom) of Strawberry Point, Nancy Meier of Tipton, LuAnn Loftis (Tony) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Steve Bena (Lauri) of Volga, Iowa; and his sister Emily Suchomel of Solon, Iowa.. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
