He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Coiner and Mabel Brinkman Coiner; and his daughter Kandy. He is survived by: his wife Linda; his daughter Kathy; his grandchildren, Steven Hankemeier (Lillian), Stephanie Nelson, Andrew Stewart and Hailey Stewart; his great grandchildren, Jaden Nelson, Eleanor Hankemeier and Phillip Hankemeier; and his siblings, Jean Eserhaut (Ray) and Robert "Joe" Coiner (Tammy).
