She was predeceased by: her mother Debra Smith (Groom); and her grandmother Viola Geyer. She is survived by: her father Stephen Smith; her former husband Joseph J. Shimon; her husband Joe; her children, Megan Albright (Blake), Emily Shimon, Heather West (Andy), Shelby Shimon and Mariah Wiest (Dylan); her grandchildren, Kiah, Rylee, Mckinley, Maverick and Albright; and her siblings, Cindy, Shannon, Shelby, Stacy and Amanda.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service (2720 Muscatine Ave, Iowa City, IA 52240). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 at the Memory Gardens Cemetery (2600 Muscatine Ave, Iowa City, IA 52240).
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in her memory.
