It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Mary Ann Upah of Tama, Iowa, who passed away on August 21, 2020, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, John Starits and Mary Starits (Machacek); her husband Edward "Ed" J. Upah; her great grandchild River Novak; and her brothers, John, Ed and Emil Starits.

She is survived by: her daughters, Diane Novak (Dick) of Tama and Jane Currier (Derb Cherry) of Tama; her grandchildren, Rich Novak (Katie) of Plano, TX, John Novak (Becky) of Toledo, Emily Babinat (Jason) of Tama, Christine Ecklor (Shane) of Marshalltown, Jesse Gerlach (Codee) of Carlisle and Katie Schulte (Will) of Watkins; her great grandchildren, Remington, Samuel, Finnley Novak, Gabe, Ethan, Alex Babinat, Ann, Chad, Madelyn, Richard Ecklor, Connor, Kennedy Gerlach, Carson, Brody and Charlie Schulte; and her sister Martha Anderson of Newton.

It is recommended that everyone attending wear a mask and social distancing should be practiced as well.

Memorials may be directed to the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama.
